Student Welcome Officer (Nights)
Location: West Dean, West Sussex
Salary: £26,732.16 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Average of 42 hours per week, 5 nights on / 5 nights off (8pm-8am)

West Dean is internationally recognised for excellence in art, design, craft, and conservation education. We are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and professional Student Welcome Officer (Nights) to join our vibrant community and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and satisfaction of our students and guests during night hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a warm and professional welcome to students, tutors, and guests.
  • Assist with check-ins, issuing room keys, and providing information on college facilities and local amenities.
  • Respond to fire alarms, and undertake regular building patrols.
  • Respond to student and guest needs, including handling queries and resolving issues.
  • Maintain records of incidents, key movements, and security checks.
  • Assist with emergency evacuations and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional, approachable manner.
  • Ability to remain calm in a busy or challenging environment.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills, including the ability to use email and booking systems.
  • Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a visitor-facing role is desirable.
  • Experience in a similar role within education, heritage, or hospitality would be an advantage.
